On June 30, 2008 Arabian Bemco was awarded a S.R 11 billion (USD 3 billion) contract with SEC for turnkey supply and installation of a 2,600 MW power generation plant (PP10) built on an area of 5 million square meter outside the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. This is a Greenfield project that will initially install 36 GTG simple cycle base loaded gas turbines on treated crude oil for future conversion to combined cycle blocks with the addition of unfired HRSGs and steam turbine gensets. Once completed, the new PP10 project will increase Riyadh’s installed capacity by about 20% to meet projected energy shortages. On December 27, 2010 Arabian Bemco has been awarded an extension contract to add 700 MW to PP10 bringing total generation capacity to 3,400 MW. October 16, 2011 Arabian Bemco was awarded the conversion of the plant from simple cycle to combined cycle. The new combined cycle will add 1,300 MW to the existing 3,400 MW plant, by adding 10 STGs, 40 HRSGs and 10 ACCs at Power Plant No. 10 blocks A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1, including all support facilities for converting the simple cycle power plant to a combined cycle power plant. When completed in 2015, Riyadh Power Plant No. 10 Combined Cycle will be one of the largest combined cycle plant in the world (total capacity 4,600 MW with 40 GTGs inthe Combined Cycle Operation) and an aggregate value of S.R 18 billion (USD 4.8 billion)
